Make Merry!

1birthdaypancakesD: A! A, wake up, woman!

A: Huh-what? I’m awake, D.

D: Oh really?

A: Okay, maybe I was taking a bit of a catnap—

D: Whatever, woman – it’s time to get moving. Do you have any idea what today is?

A: Saturday?

D: . . .

A: Saturday, April 12?

D: We’re going to do this again?

A: Well, yeah. I mean, what would you do without me being obtuse? Or confounding? Or generally a foil to your, um, majesty.

D: This is true.

A: See, I’m fulfilling a very important role for you, D. Have been for a whole year.

D: You did that on purpose.

A: What, steal your thunder and announce that we’ve been blogging for 365 days as of today?

D: Yeah, that.

A: And you’ve put up with that sort of behavior for fifty-two weeks now.

D: Are you quite done?

A: What, with announcing that we’ve been entertaining, infuriating, and talking at one another,  celebrating creativity and acting as creative-community cheerleaders for 12 months exactly?

D: (Sigh).

A: Ah-ha! I saw that smile, D. Don’t try to hide it. Come on, you’ve had fun for most of the 8765.81 hours this blog has been alive.

D: You are incorrigible.

Memoirs of a DilettanteA: I’ve learned from the best!

D: Speaking of the best. . .

A: Oh no, I’ll let you announce this one – see, I can be nice.

D: Your graciousness knows no bounds. A and I are incredibly pleased to announce we share an anniversary with one of our very favorite people. Today not only marks a year for The D/A Dialogues,  but it also marks the birthday of a one Helena Hann-Basquiat, dilettante extraordinaire!

A&D: Happy Birthday, Helena!

The Best MedicineA: Helena, and her delightfully creepy alter-ego Jessica B. Bell, is an incredibly talented author who has been a great friend to me, and to celebrate her day, you should boogie on down to Amazon and pick up one–

D: Or all–

A: Of her books.

D: First, there are the Memoirs of a Dilettante, Vol. One. Her anecdotes are, by turns, hysterical and touching, and well worth the read.

CoverA: And then there are the two novellas from Jessica B. Bell – The Best Medicine and Three Cigarettes. Both are wonderfully-wicked,  and should be read with the lights on!

D: Or off, if you’re not A, and scared of everything that goes bump in the night.

A: For once, he’s not wrong!

D: I’m never wrong.

A: Indeed, D. Here’s to another year of laughs, chills and all-around fabulousness.

D: Well said, A

D&A: Happy Birthday, Helena.

A: And happy birthday, blog. Thank you all so much for finding us, and sticking around once you realized we’re a little nuts! Have a great weekend!

      1. It’s coming along. I changed the end – made it not a cliffhanger, so it’s still being edited! I may also be having some trouble letting my baby go! 😀
